Global warming and climate change are not only an environmental threat, but also a multidimensional challenge to the economy, society and global security. They are a combination of natural processes such as changes in solar radiation and human factors such as greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel consumption, deforestation and industrial production. The impacts of global warming and climate change go beyond increasing global average temperatures and include melting polar ice caps, rising sea levels, more frequent floods and droughts and a decline in biodiversity. They also exacerbate important social and economic impacts such as forced migration, food crises and increasing poverty. Biosystems engineering can play a role in confronting this crisis and providing ecofriendly strategies to reduce the effects of climate change and global developments on Iran's agriculture and natural resources. This field, using advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things, helps optimize resource consumption, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and increase productivity in agriculture. Using smart irrigation and water resource management systems to optimize use of water and soil resources, designing more efficient agricultural machinery, and developing sustainable agricultural methods are among the solutions that can help reduce the effects of climate change. Also, research into the use of machine learning algorithms to predict and manage environmental crises are other applications of biosystems engineering.
