Abstract
Climate change, as one of the most critical environmental challenges of the current century, extensively impacts forest ecosystems, while forest destruction has, in turn, exacerbated this phenomenon. This study investigates the two-way relationship between climate change and forests, demonstrating that the increase in greenhouse gases from human activities, along with natural factors, has led to global warming, altered precipitation patterns, increased droughts, and forest fires. Forests, acting as the most important carbon sinks, play a key role in moderating the climate, but deforestation is a significant contributor to carbon dioxide emissions. In Iran, climate change has caused increased temperatures, reduced rainfall, intensified droughts, and a serious threat to the country’s forests. This research emphasizes the need to implement solutions for the protection and restoration of forests, sustainable water resource management, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and ecological planning to prevent the escalation of the crisis.
